The third International Forum on Democracy: The Shared Human Values, kicked off in Beijing on Wednesday. Over 200 guests from various countries, regions, and international organizations engaged in discussions on topics such as "Democracy and Modern Governance," "Democracy and the Rule of Law in the Digital Times," "AI and the Future of Democracy," and "Democracy and Global Governance in a Multipolar World" to explore the essence of democracy and paths for mutual learning.
Attendees called democracy the cornerstone of the progress of human civilization and a consistent pursuit of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people. China has embarked on a path of democratic development with Chinese characteristics, ensuring the full democratic rights of over 1.4 billion people. This path has mobilized the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of the people, achieving a Chinese miracle of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, thereby bolstering the nation's comprehensive endeavor towards rejuvenation through Chinese-style modernization.
Attendees highlighted democracy as a shared human value with an aim to safeguard and enhance the well-being of all humanity. Participants noted the necessity of respecting the exploration of developing countries to pursue, develop, and achieve democracy. They upheld the rights of peoples worldwide to choose their development paths independently and expressed opposition to exploitation of the concept of democracy to sow division, spread prejudice, and disrupt peace in the international community. They agreed that it is essential to foster a new type of international relations characterized by mutual respect, fairness, justice, cooperation, and win-win outcomes to advance construction of a global community of shared future.
