China in Bloom

From the south to the north, from the plains to the highlands, spring is gradually sweeping across the vast landscapes of China, painting a vivid and breathtaking picture.
In Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, 30,000 cherry trees line the shore of Yuantouzhu, their blossoms forming dreamy clouds of pink. In Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province, terraced fields are blanketed in a vast expanse of canola flowers resembling a golden ocean stretching into the horizon.
In April, Heze in Shandong Province becomes a kingdom of blooming peonies, and the two-kilometer Jiaochang Middle Road in Kunming, Yunnan Province, transforms into a long romantic corridor of purple jacaranda blossoms.
But we will show you more than just flowers.
Around the Qingming Festival, boundless azalea forests blanketing the mountainsides in Bijie, Guizhou Province, burst into full bloom. Yi girls, with bamboo baskets on their backs, stroll through the seas of flowers. Their pleated skirts, adorned with intricate patterns, perfectly match the vibrant red azalea blossoms. Meanwhile, in the valley of the Jinchuan River, Aba Prefecture of Sichuan Province, century-old pear trees create a fragrant sea of white blossoms. The songs locals sing at a sacrificial ceremony for the mountain god blend with the falling petals.
In Nyingchi, Xizang Autonomous Region, the spectacle of peach blossoms against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains has been an attraction for centuries. From generation to generation, local herders maintain the tradition of “never breaking the blooming branches,” crediting the peach trees to seeds sowed by Princess Wencheng during her journey to Xizang. In Ili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, endless lavender fields undulate like purple waves in the gentle breeze. Thanks to the wisdom of the local people, the lavender, a plant from afar, has created an industrial miracle in the Ili River Basin, earning it the nickname “Provence of the East.”
These amazing springtime vistas across the country are not only gifts from nature but also the imprints left by Chinese people of various ethnic groups living in harmony across time.
