On May 23, an inaugural exhibition titled “Ningbo through the Lens: Enterprise & Business Exhibitions around the World” was held in Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia. The event is co-orgainzed by the CICG Center for Europe and Asia (China Pictorial Publications), Ningbo International Communication Center, and Ningbo Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia and supported by ASEAN Top News.

More than 100 government officials, business representatives and media representatives from China and Cambodia attended the opening ceremony, including Chen Cong, Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Prak Phannara, Secretary of State to Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, Chhean Leang, Secretary of State to Ministry of Information of Cambodia, Choun Chanphearoun, Deputy Director General of Information and Broadcasting of the Ministry of Information of Cambodia, Zheng Xianjiang, President of the Cambodian Sichuan-Chongqing General Chamber of Commerce, Hu Jianhai, President of the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce in Cambodia and Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, Shen Qihui, President of Ningbo Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia.

Chen Cong stressed in his opening speech that the Cambodian people are paying great attention to China’s development achievements and have a strong interest in Chinese culture and history. This photo exhibition can allow the Cambodian people to intuitively experience China’s beautiful mountains and rivers, profound civilization, and broad development opportunities.

The friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Cambodian peoples have always been promoted by a mutual fondness and interest. I hope to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange through more cultural exchange events between China and Cambodia and continue to work together on the path of common development and progress, bringing more benefits to the two countries and their peoples. Prak Phannara pointed out that this photo exhibition is not only a display of art, but also an important platform for promoting culture and tourism resources.

China’s magnificent mountains and rivers, as well as its profound cultural heritage, have great appeal to Cambodian tourists. Cambodia’s natural scenery and rich history also provide unique tourism experiences for Chinese visitors.

Tourism cooperation is an important part of people-to-people exchanges. In the future, we should further strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism, jointly promote the prosperity and development of the tourism industry in the two countries and enhance the understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Chhean Leang delivers a speech.

Chhean Leang stated that the photo exhibition has helped Cambodian people better understand China, especially when it comes to development of Ningbo city. As a partner of the Belt and Road Initiative, Cambodia has great potential for industrial and enterprise development.

In addition, Cambodia has a profound culture and a rich history, providing plentiful resources for cultural exchange activities. This year is the Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year. Cambodia welcomes more Chinese friends to visit and invest in the country. The two sides will work together to achieve mutual benefits, promote economic prosperity, and deepen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.

Choun Chanphearoun said in an interview that this photo exhibition is of great significance. It is not only a visual feast but also a cultural bridge that enhances exchanges between the peoples of the two countries, playing a positive role in promoting mutual understanding between Cambodia and China. The cultural exchange between the two countries has a long history, and he looks forward to more cultural exchange activities in the future, allowing more people to understand and appreciate the cultural charm of both Cambodia and China.

Shen Qihui has lived and worked in Cambodia for 25 years. He said that since Ningbo established its first factory in Cambodia in 2005, the number of Ningbo enterprises in the country has reached over 100. Ningbo companies have always been committed to helping Cambodian employees embrace the corporate culture, and this photo exhibition, warmly welcomed by the employees, helps the locals better understand Ningbo, learn more about China, and promote mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

Xu Botong said that the exhibition does not only showcase China’s fine traditional culture and remarkable achievements, but also vividly tells the stories of historical and cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia, which will create beautiful memories of the friendly cooperation between the two countries. The Seduno factory will continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and contribute to the economic and trade ties as well as cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia.

The year 2024 marks the China-Cambodia People-to-People Exchange Year. The “Ningbo through the Lens: Enterprise & Business Exhibitions around the World” event kicked off with the inaugural exhibition themed “Opportunities from China, Collaboration with Ningbo,” featuring over 90 outstanding photos. Through the art of light and shadow, the photo exhibition well presents the Ningbo city in Zhejiang, allowing Cambodian visitors to closely experience China’s traditional culture and modern development, and serves as a platform of friendship between the two populations. The photo exhibition has a main exhibition area at the Seduno factory in Phnom Penh and a select exhibition area at the Angkor Classic Art Museum, both open to public for free from May 23 to 29.

The “Ningbo Through the Lens: Enterprise & Business Exhibitions Around the World” event aims to tour 100 overseas factories of Ningbo enterprises, with the inaugural exhibition held at the cluster of Ningbo factories in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, enjoyed by a total of 100,000 Cambodian employees.
