Palace Museum Will Open Digital Exhibition in Xi’an

The launch ceremony of the national tour and the press conference for the Xi’an debut of “The Forbidden City at 600: Shiqu Baoji Digital Painting Exhibition” were held in Guantang Art Zone, Beijing on the morning of June 16, 2021.

Officials and guests from organizations including the Palace Museum, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Cathay View Culture attended the event. Strategic cooperation agreements were signed between Beijing Guantang Dayou Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd. and multiple companies including Yuexing Group, Change Consulting, Seud, Haier Group, Huanqiu, China Mobile, China Commercial Real Estate Association, Jining Confucius Cultural Tourism Group, and My Humble House Group.

Organized by the Palace Museum and Beijing Guantang Dayou Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd., the digital exhibition will make its debut in Xi'an, capital city of northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province on July 2. Under the theme of “Walking Culture of the Palace Museum,” the exhibition combines traditional paintings with digital technology, expanding the boundaries of culture and art through the use of technology. The audience will be invited into a world of famous Chinese paintings and enjoy the cultural feast transcending time and space.

Shiqu Baoji, or the Precious Collection of the Stone Moat, is the name given to the comprehensive catalogue of the Qing royal collections of Chinese paintings and calligraphic works across nearly 2,000 years from the Wei and Jin dynasties (220-420) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It includes such classic masterpieces as Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River, Along the River During the Qingming FestivalA Panorama of Rivers and Mountains and Five Oxen. Aiming to bring relics back to life and make them known to the world, the Palace Museum has continued to explore new ways in recent years to represent brilliant Chinese civilization, inherit and promote precious cultural heritage, and revitalize cultural relics to impress the people and the world.
