APEPCY and Armenian Embassy in China Sign a MoU
To further promote communication and exchange between the Embassy of Armenia to China and Chinese social organizations (non-governmental organizations), Armenian Ambassador to China Sergey Manassarian visited the Beijing Changier Education Foundation on April 19, 2023 at the invitation of Zhang Yinjun, deputy director of the Women and Children’s Committee of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, member of the China Economic and Social Council, and chairwoman of the foundation. The two sides had a pleasant, pragmatic, in-depth, and efficient exchange and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening International Cooperation for the Development of Women and Children Affairs between APEPCY and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the People’s Republic of China.
During the talks, both sides agreed to carry out practical cooperation in exchanges of social organizations in both countries, and development of women and children affairs as well as adolescent health education. Zhang stated that Changier, an organization in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council , has the responsibility and obligation to consolidate the traditional friendship and promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Changier hopes to establish working relations with Armenian public welfare organizations with the help of the Armenian Embassy in China as soon as possible, promote the implementation of Changier’s AIDS prevention education projects in Armenia, and benefit the people of Armenia with its best practice in women and children’s development for nearly 20 years. Zhang added that she hopes to cooperate with Chinese and Armenian agencies related to foreign affairs to pragmatically promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and organize mutual visits of young students from both countries. Ambassador Manassarian highly appreciated Changier for promoting the AIDS Prevention Education Project for Chinese Youth (APEPCY) to cover more than 1,000 schools and benefit tens of millions of people in China, and successfully obtaining the special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. He added that Armenia needs the assistance of such organizations, and the embassy is willing to provide support for cultural exchanges between both sides. The embassy will provide a list of Armenian social organizations available for cooperation as soon as possible, and looks forward to APEPCY’s assistance in social security and the protection of women and children’s rights and interests in Armenia.
Students from Dalian Sun Valley (Huaxia) School participated in this international exchange event. Ambassador Manassarian answered questions from four of the students and gave them face-to-face guidance on such topics as the growth path of young diplomats, bilateral cultural and art exchanges, and the impact of artificial intelligence on future education.
Chen Hong, director of the China-U.S CDC Collaboration Program Management Office and deputy director of the Academic Committee of Changier, Zhao Xishun, secretary at the Armenian Embassy in China, Lei Zhitian, deputy director of the Academic Committee of Changier and senior researcher at Taihe Institute, Xing Haiyan, vice chairwoman and secretary-general of Changier, and Zhang Na, deputy director of the International Department of Changier, also attended the event.
