During an interview by China Pictorial, Rafael Fontana, a Brazilian journalist with China Radio International (CRI) expressed that BRICS cooperation is crucial for Brazil. Fontana thinks that since Brazil has undergone three years of recession, the country is eager for new investment and it also hopes to benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative. He believes that this summit will have in-depth discussion on the idea of “BRICS plus,” which may allow new countries to join the group in the future.
