The century-old Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway was the first railroad independently designed and built by China. This railway connects Beijing and Hebei Province’s Zhangjiakou City, the two host cities for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Guishui River Bridge, 852.64 meters long and rising 28 meters above the Guanting Reservoir, is an important section of the line.
The summer holiday travel rush of 2020 is approaching. To secure safe, smooth and stable operation of the railway, the Track Maintenance Division in Zhangjiakou is conducting a complete inspection of the structural components of the Guishui River Bridge, an integral part of the Beijing-Baotou Railway. The photo shows maintenance workers climbing up to the upper part of the bridge to inspect bridge condition and the bolted connection of an upper steel beam.
