China International Publishing Group participates in the 71st Frankfurt Book Fair
Under the theme of "Reading China," China International Publishing Group (CIPG) is taking part in the 71st Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany starting October 16, with nearly 1,000 book titles covering more than 30 languages, 659 types of which are books in foreign languages, representing 86 percent.
The Frankfurt Book Fair was initiated in 1949 mainly to promote copyright trade. CIPG has participated in the event every year since 2005, with a view to advancing copyright trade and cultural exchanges. By making books on China more accessible to international readers, the group is committed to better introducing Chinese culture and the country's development to the outside world.
CIPG's titles presented at the fair include Chinese books translated into multiple languages such as Xi Jinping: The Governance of China as well as President Xi Jinping's two other works--Up and Out of Poverty and Zhejiang, China: A New Vision on Development. Covering contemporary Chinese society, culture and literature, Chinese language learning and children's books, the titles present China to the world in an all-round manner.
Promoting international publishing cooperation is another goal of CIPG. In recent years, the group has signed cooperation agreements with nearly 50 major publishing institutions from more than 30 countries.
At this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, CIPG will hold launch ceremonies for books such as the China in Focus series. It will also sign agreements with publishing houses from countries such as the U.S., Spain and Italy on jointly establishing international editorial offices for planning, editing and publishing China-themed books with the aim of further enhancing their reach and influence in the international market.
