Changsha is a city of boundless passion, well-known for its spicy food. Hot dishes and snacks such as fish head with chopped peppers, fried meat with chili, rice noodles, flavored shrimp, and stinky tofu lure food aficionados from around the world.
It is a popular travel destination. Wuyi Square in downtown Changsha is always crowded with tourists. With booming entertainment and cultural industries, Changsha has become a sleepless city known for its stellar nightlife.
From bronze ritual instruments of the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600-1046 B.C.) to stunning archaeological findings from the Mawangdui tombs of the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-220 A.D.), Changsha has cultivated brilliant culture passed on from generation to generation for some 3,000 years.
