The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the grandest, most joyous, and most vibrant traditional celebration of the Chinese people. With the Year of the Snake approaching, the National Museum of China (NMC) has curated the “Embracing the Spring: Celebrating the Year of the Snake” exhibition, extending beautiful blessings of prosperity and countless good fortunes. This exhibition celebrates the first Spring Festival following its inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Over 200 exquisite artifacts from the museum's collection are showcased, spanning categories such as bronze, jade, coins, porcelains, gold and silver items, lacquerware, and calligraphy and paintings.

The exhibition features three sections, including Radiant Stars and Auspicious Clouds Appear; A Heavenly Time of Harmony Draws Near, The Cosmos Thrives in Tranquil Accord; Mountains Stand High and Proud, and Spring Unfolds Once More; it’s as Lovely as the Faces Hold. These sections present a rich, multidimensional view of the cultural significance of the Spring Festival.

Home is where almost all Chinese people are longing to return to during the New Year. As the old year departs and the new one begins, what Chinese people want to do the most is to be with their family, to bid farewell to the old year, to welcome the arrival of the New Year, and to pray for good fortunes and happiness.
